I have tried many protein balls in my day. lol! My favourite ones are from my local Cafe, “The Bicycle Lunch Box” which luckily for me is right next to my work. I make some myself to have at home for my family and I, be warned though they will never last as long as you think they should because everyone will eat them up.
Energy balls for me, are a great pick me up and source of energy, rather than reaching for store-bought granola bars or pastries they are an awesome option. I have had people comment as to how can I eat them so often as they have so many calories, but not all calories are bad calories. These offer Protein, Antioxidants, Fibre, Iron, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Vit-B.
Here is what I used! and remember that you can add what ever you like to your energy balls, They are fun to play around with.
1 Cup Bobs Organic Old Fashioned Oats
1/2 Organic Peanut Butter, (use and nut butter you like, I have found that peanut butter keeps the balls from being crumbly)
1/2 Cup Vegan Chocolate Chips OR 1/4 Cocao Nibs
1/3 Cup Maple Syrup
1/4 Cup Sunflower Seeds
1/4 Goji Berries
2 Tbsp Hemp Seeds
a little sprinkle of salt
a dash of cinnamon
Stir until all mixed together and form into balls, I make them a little larger than the size of a golf ball which made 12 balls. They are very sticky to roll so keep your hands a little wet.
You can roll them in unsweetened coconut too.
