I could eat oats everyday, always. For breakfast lunch or supper. Oatmeal is something that I never get tired of eating. Now we are talking about actual whole grain oats, not instant loaded with sugar pre-packed oats although those are yummy they tend to be loaded with sugar. As we all know oatmeal is so amazing for you, full of fibre, vitamins, mineral and antioxidants. They can lower cholesterol and improve your blood sugar. Oats are also great for people trying to lose a little weight as Oats tend to keep us feeling fuller longer, like the old saying “sticks to your ribs”.
There are so many ways to dress up your oats to your own likes and maybe what you have on hand from toppings day-to-day but the actual cooking of the oats is the same.
Heres how I make my oats every time and they are always amazing
This will make 2 decent size servings
1 Cup Old Fashioned Organic Rolled Oats, I use Bobs Red Mill
1 Cup water
1 Cup Almond Milk
1/2 tsp cinnamon
sprinkle of salt (very little)
Put everything in a saucepan and turn heat on med low and just let them cook, make sure and stir them regularly to get them nice and creamy and to make sure they don’t stick to the bottom of the pan. Add more water is you feel it is too thick. They also say to use a wooden spoon when you make oatmeal as it will make a better texture oatmeal. This will take 5-10 min.
Dress it up, this is the ways I usually so up oatmeal in the morning. My son and I like it with berries and my husband likes his with bananas.
1/2 cup Berries
A few walnuts
1 tbsp Maple Syrup
You can add many things
Chai Seeds, Flax Seeds, Hemp seeds, Walnuts, Almonds, Apples, Pumpkin Seed, Sunflower seeds, any type of fruit.
Let me know how you like your Oatmeal.
